Diagnostic viewer of Simulink not updated when ESP flashtool starts
Added by martin van beek about 4 years ago
When start the compile and download function (ctlr+b buttons), the 'Diagnostic Viewer' is displaying some interesting information.
But then there will be a long time that nothing happens, at this point some critical feedback is missing, the user doesn't know of the compile session is still running correct.
After the compilation cycle the ESP flashtool will be initiated and tries to connect with the ESP32 target device. Still no information displayed in the Diagnostic Viewer.
At this point it should be great that the user gets prompt a dialog window, that he should put the ESP32 target into programming mode by pressing the "boot0" + "reset" buttons on the target pcb.
Instead of this, the ESP flashtool starts invisible, trying to connect with the target, and then the system reports an error. It could not connect with the target device.
Is it possible to flash the target device afterwards by initiating the ESP flashtool, otherwise you have to start the compilations from start.
Is it possible to modify the build script in that way, that it will display a message screen just before the ESP flashtool is started, so you can put the target into programming mode.
Best regards,
Martin.

Thank you for contacting us. We will fix the issues on logging data in the Diagnostic Viewer and improve the building process in future releases.

Thanks a lot Chandima, this problem is solved within the brand new release (v20.11a).
Much better, now you get much more feedback during the compilation and download process.
Best regards,
Martin.
